Concorso D'eleganza 2018

Sunday 11Th November saw the 3rd attempt at the Annual Concorso D’Eleganza at Gough Whitlam Park, Earlwood. After 2 previous washouts it turned out to be a perfect spring day.

At 10:59am, member Ray Beattie Sounded a whistle in preparation for the 11:00AM minute of Silence. The whistle is a Genuine NSW Police whistle, issued in the 1890's - Made in Birmingham - Our members recognised that Ray was preparing for the minute silence. Classic Yass 2018

What a wonderful weekend it was celebrating 'all things classic' at the Classic Yass on Saturday 3rd November 2018.

21x IMSMC cars were present and overall 89 historic clubs participated in this years. This was the second year that IMSMC participated in the event  in Banjo Paterson and Riverbank Parks in the historic town of Yass.

The event featured a sensational Motor Show of 389 x Classic Cars, Motorcycles and Historic Racing Cars, as well as the thrills of the Billy Cart Derby a vintage fashion competition and many market stalls.

This is what some of the members said about this event:

"Was my first time attending this event and I was amazed to see how many classic cars there were!"" It Was great to catch up with all our IMSMC friends"" Great dinner on Saturday night and entertainment from the band playing 50s, 60s and 70s music. Was great to have a dance with friends""What a beautiful drive and weekend it was to cruise in our classic Italian cars"

My highlight of the weekend was cruising in our Alfa Spyder down the freeway, getting to see all the other Italian cars represented at this event and looking at all the different cars at the show.

I thought this was a great family day and was nice that we could make a weekend of it!

I was so proud that, my Nonno, Charlie Losinno won the Presidents award and John Di Rocco won the Best European Car award that was presented by Jim Richards, past racing car driver.

A big thank you to our committee for organising this spectacular event. Thank you to our 58 members & family who participated with their classic cars and for your company at another great IMSMC event!

Auto Festa 2018

Sunday the 28th of October. "International" cuisine, drink, fashion, entertainment coffee and sweets, made up the Norton street festa of 2019. Italian Made Social Motoring Club, displaying over 40 cars... our contribution to this years event.

Our Cavlacade began on Parramatta Rd, where our classics made their way toward Pioneer Park. The videos that can be seen on our facebook page, creates imagery of scenes from the 1960's. Thanks to the expertise of many of our members, posting and sharing events of the day.

Our club cars arrived at Pioneer Park and were scattered among the pine trees (quite fitting)... some call it "Italian Style "park where you can!.

Within no time, the food and beverage began, with many members sharing in those "homemade goodies" and quickly spreading themselves among the many eateries along Norton street.

Great to see so many members share in the experience. One of the most notable things are the smiles and sharing that exists within our member base, It is obvious to friends and members alike!

A memorable event! Thank you IMSMC.

Eastern Creek and FerrAgosto 2018

Eastern Creek 2018

On Sunday 12th August 43 cars attended the annual Shannon’s CMC Classic car event at Sydney Motorsport Park Eastern Creek.

We were once again blessed with sunshine and blue skies for most of the day.

At 10.30 in usual tradition ours cars paraded out with a lap of the racing circuit.

The day included members mingling among the vast array of exceptional classic cars and of course in Italian style enjoying the BYO coffee and biscuits.

Another great day spent with passionate and enthusiastic members in doing what we all love and enjoy

FerrAgosto 2018

On Sunday the 19th of August, 35 x IMSMC cars created a “Nostalgic” presentation of Historic Italian Cars, as a contribution to the Canada Bay Council Festa of FerrAgosto 2018.

Our members met in the morning, then cavalcaded together, down Parramatta Rd and headed toward the Festa, attracting curiosity, smiles and “friendly honks” from the public and passing traffic.

Upon arrival, all members parked with great efficiency (we’re getting very good at it now)... the colours of each car, beaming and lighting up First Avenue & Garfield streets.

The Festa offers all things Italian – Food, wine, fashion, music and the finest historic engineering. Our stall was in full swing, alongside our club sponsor stall of Casa Medusa!

A great family day. We are proud of our significant contribution to this great community event.

Porchetta @ Pangallo

On Sunday the 15th of July, 80 members and family made the trip to Pangallo Estate for a Porchetta picnic.

On arguably the coldest winters morning thus far, we met at McDonald's car park at Thornleigh, where we began our journey.

Crusing along the road toward the hunter valley, our destination Pangallo. Upon arrival, members were greeted by the friendly staff, offering preserved locally produced olives and oils, fresh fruit and wine! All for tasting and purchase.

Our members and; guests, in true IMSMC fashion, brought “appetizers” (enough food to feed a small army!), sharing their own samples of  home made goodies, for all to enjoy, whilst many basking in the glorious sunshine the day offered and meandering through the orchards.

Just prior to lunch being served, member Anthony Vecchio presented Lino De Iulio with a “green, white & red” hand made walking stick, as we commemorated Lino recently becoming a “Grandfather”. Looks like we’ll need a fair few of these, as the IMSMC community continues to grow!

Without further ado, the Porchetta was served by the wonderful staff at Pangallo Estate. A HUGE success. We should add that “their wasn’t any left over”, with each guest sufficiently satisfied with the offering.

Thank you to the staff at Pangallo Estate for a fantastic experience. Thank you to all the guests, for your contributions.

This event will definitely be repeated in the future. Certainly lays claim to be one of our best!

IMSMC AGM 2018

On Friday Night at Club Marconi 107 guests attended the IMSMC Annual General Meeting.

On a busy Friday night ( usual Sydney traffic) we managed to commence our meeting very close to the proposed 7pm start time - THANK YOU!

After formalities, the member base was brought up to date regarding future events.

We were in the presence of Mr Lester Gough, on behalf of the Council of Motor Clubs. Lester provided an informative presentation regarding the HVS & CVS schemes recently implemented by the RTA (RMS), highlighting the importance of working within the guidelines, the reasons why and the implications of the logbook trial on all clubs.

Our appreciation of the sponsorship received, was greatly acknowledged. Where would we be without them?

At the conclusion of Lester's presentation, all guests were offered a complimentary pasta meal and a serving of our famous "Mille Foglie" cake.

The club Marconi staff worked tirelessly behind the bar, serving dinner and clearing tables all night. They are to be commended in the manner in which we were looked after. Thank you Club Marconi.

A video of 2017 was projected on the big screen, stimulating discussion and particular interest from our new members.

We are proud to advise all members that the "Ever, tireless working committee" remains unchanged. We look forward to a vibrant year ahead.

Nelune Fundraiser

Saturday Night, the 16th of June, IMSMC supported a fundraiser, for the Nelune foundation held at the Harbourview Restaurant at The Northbridge Golf Club.

125 guests, contributed to a fantastic night. The finest cuisine, great company, dancing and support, was shared among those in attendance.

Our night was opened, with a brief welcome, by our president and introduced our MC's for the evening; Elka & Thomas Whalan, Both Olympians who have represented Australia in water polo and swimming. Both are TV personalities, appearing regularly on Channel 7's Sunrise. They are HUGE supporters of The Nelune Foundation. They expressed their joy and greatly appreciate the support offered by IMSMC.

Nelune & Anna, co founders of the foundation were extremely overwhelmed by the support of our club.

Raffles, silent auctions , signed bottles of wine (1 signed by The Hon. Malcolm Turnbull!) were used to raise funds for a very worthy cause. Fighting cancer with dignity.

A Huge Thankyou to all the members, family & friends of IMSMC that attended. Thankyou to the members that donated items toward the fundraiser.

I am delighted to let you know that the Italian Festa raised $10,000 on Saturday night. What a wonderful outcome and thank you both for your enormous contribution and a huge, huge thanks to Doreen, Nina and the Italian Social Motoring Club and their members for making it the success it was.

The outreach services at the Nelune Comprehensive Cancer Centre are in need of a car for home visits for patients receiving chemotherapy at home. With the $10k and hopefully with other end of year donations coming through they will be able to purchase a car.  Will keep you posted.

A great night - a worthy cause - proudly supported by our fine club.

On a glorious Autumn day, 70 members with family made up a display of 60 cars @ Club Marconi, celebrating “La Festa Della Repubblica 2018”.

All participating members are to be commended on the manner in which they efficiently arranged their cars into position with minimal fuss, creating a display reminiscent of Piazza Siracusa!

The day panned out in typical IMSMC fashion, with discussion, laughter and sharing “delights” of which were readily (and abundantly) available throughout the stalls at Club Marconi; Pizza, Pasta, Zeppoli, BBQ, Porchetta and of course the famous pannini from the CAMPISI FINE FOOD Stall.

We thank Club Marconi for offering every driver displaying

their car, a complimentary pasta (or Arrancini) lunch voucher & drink. We thank member William Nasato from CORPORATE AWARDS,  for offering the Trophies which were presented by the Marconi executive committee, on the day. Our winners are grinners;

Weekend In Orange 2018

What a glorious weekend with perfect Classic Car Motoring weather!

37 members and friends joined us for what was a weekend filled with beautiful country roads, lovely local food and wines.
Meeting at Glenbrook we convoyed in Classic Italian Made style to Lithgow and then onto Mayfield Vineyard set among the rolling hills of Orange. Enjoying the local wines, grazing at a table of nibbles and taking in the scenic views.
Our next stop was Stockman’s Ridge a lovely vineyard with a stunning tree lined driveway where we settled in for a picnic lunch. Here we tasted the local wine which complemented beautifully with all the lovely food prepared by our members and guests. Spending the afternoon in and around the vineyards, soaking up the sunshine of the day!

Before sunset we all convoyed to our Hotel for a well-deserved rest before heading off to dinner at The Hotel Canoblas with more eating and drinking.

Sunday was another spectacular day with the weather even milder than the day before. We head to Rowlee Wines, where we were welcomed by the owners Nicole and James who gave us a rundown of their single vineyard winery, tasting their exceptional wines.
Next we headed to the Lake Canoblas Reserve where we took some lovely photos of our Classics with the lake as the backdrop.

Finally we head to our lunch destination Borrodell Winery which is set on the picturesque slopes of the extinct volcano Mt Canoblas and is one of the highest vineyards with spectacular views over the Towac Valley.

Here we had an exceptional lunch, a 3 course seasonal menu from products sourced locally and from the Orchard in the vineyard. Here we all enjoyed the culinary delights of this wonderful restaurant.

This concluded what was a special weekend with great weather, great drives, good food, wine and most importantly great company.
