Autofesta 2023

On Sunday the 29th of October, 55 IMSMC cars were displayed in Pioneer park, Leichhardt, as our contribution to AUTOFESTA! 64 members made an appearance including, partners, family and friends, we were well represented with a group of well over 100!

The day began with the passionisti arriving between 8 and 9am, creating a scene from any "Boschetto" in Italy! All classics including Historic & Modern motor vehicles, gleaming in the sun of a PERFECT spring day (almost verging on summer). With that in mind, we sought shelter under the biggest tree in the park. It wasn't long before all the "home made goodies" were shared by the wonderful people of IMSMC.

Norton street was full of fine cuisine & produce... mostly Italian and some international stalls.

 The festa was buzzing!

Every IMSMC member that made an appearance received a coffee voucher from "The Club", which was redeemed at Grinders coffee - The total amount of dollars spent being donated to charity! Further, every driver was given a voucher to redeem a plate of gnocchi from "The Pasta Man!" This was offered by an "anonymous sponsor", in appreciation of our enthusiasm and contribution to the day!

Two time slots were "organised" for departure. 2:30pm & 5:00pm. Thankyou to the members that moved off in an orderly manner. One member was stopped by the Police chief inspector ( doing his due diligence) ,as he was exiting at 2:30pm. The Police quickly noticed and highlighted the presence of a number of our members escorting our 2:30pm departures along the exit path.  Thankyou , Leo, Andy, Gerardo & Daniel ( or was it Christian?).

A GREAT Day... certainly one of our most popular events.

Mayfield Gardens

On Saturday the 23rd of September, 22 IMSMCists, participated in the "SPRING OPENING" of the Mayfield gardens in Oberon.

Our day began at our meeting point at Glenbrook information centre.

The drive up the mountain was fantastic! The descent via Victoria pass and onto Oberon was a delight, with the Italian stallions purring while negotiating the undulating roads! Have I mentioned how fantastic the drive was?

Upon arrival, the "essential goodies" were shared by all, as we then moved into the gardens. SO MUCH TO SEE. 50 acres of manicured and cared for gardens and features.

Later that afternoon, we departed for Bathurst... have I mentioned how fantastic the drive was?... Later that evening, we gathered for a meal (and great company) at the Bathurst RSL - some remaining to watch the NRL semi final on the BIG screen.

Sunday morning, after a "filling" breakfast at the golden arches restaurant, we were homeward bound - another fantastic drive home! (worth mentioning, I think!)

Undoubtedly, there will be more opportunities created to "take these roads again" and visit other parts of our back

yard, which has so much to offer!

Ferragosto 2023

Sunday the 20th August, 19 club cars assembled and created a wonderful display as a contribution to Ferragosto 2023, held in Five Dock.

The day was full of "most things" Italian, from cool ice cream to hot gnocchi, along with many  international cuisine stalls and products from all over the globe.

It was wonderful to see so many members come by and share in the spirit of the day. I counted 60 IMSMC blue shirts everywhere.

It's wonderful to be part of this festa - hints that it is the biggest in Sydney! We even made the Channel 9 NEWS!!! Peter Overton reporting thousands of visitors, but the official count is over 150,000 people attended the Festa!!!

Ferragosto is a permanent fixture on our social calendar - great day - very relaxing - sharing in the spirit of the day!

2023 Shannon's CMC Classic

Sydney turned-on a spectacular winter's day for the 2023 Shannon's CMC Classic held on Sunday at Sydney Motorsport Park.  This was perfect weather for our classic cars with warm sunshine and crystal clear skies.

We had a great turn-out and as usual the club displayed a varied and interesting selection of cars.  As with all of our events, it provides the opportunity to catch-up with members we see regularly, meet new members and also welcome back a returning member or two!

One of the great things about the event is that with over 1,800 cars on display from over 100 clubs you see many cars that you've either never seen before or were once relatively common and have simply disappeared off our roads.  I've already bought a lotto ticket so I can make the owner of the silver Lancia Flaminia convertible from the Lancia Club an offer he can't refuse...

The highlight of the event however is the parade lap of the race track.  When it came to our time, we followed the Jowett Club (all of two cars) out onto the track for our lap of honour.  The Jowett Javelin saloon was an extremely innovative and attractive English family car by 1950s standards, but traffic in post-war England mustn't have been particularly quick as even our leading 500s had to hold back!  But still a great experience and to look in the rear vision mirror to see the line-up of some spectacular cars from the club weaving their way around the track including Alfa 75, Duetto, GTV, Lancia Beta HPE, Maserati Merak, Fiat 1100 and 124s (amongst others) was amazing.

Equally impressive, Gerardo Mediati's magnificent Fiat 600 Multipla was on display along Pit Straight as part of the concours display.  It more than held it's own amongst the concours entrants and Gerardo should be immensely proud of his extremely rare and very special little car.

A fantastic day out, and I'm looking forward to next year's event already!

Our cars were assembled adjacent to our dining area, in full view! Many Visitors that were simply filling up in the nearby petrol station, took the opportunity to park their  cars and visit our display! Our cars attracting attention, as always.

Fiat 500 66th Birthday Celebration

Sunday the 16th of July, 38 members & Family produced 23 x Fiat 500's at Saluti Cafe' at Novello, in Abbotsbury.

Members were able to order off the menu and predominantly ordered pizza, which is deemed to be one of Sydney's best! A huge thankyou to the owner of the establishment, John and staff, that went the extra mile to assist us and catered for our needs!  In appreciation, we presented John with a Fiat 500 Club Italia pennant as a memento of the occasion. We'll definitely be enjoying the facilities at this wonderful venue, in the future!

Everyone was in deep conversation, when a cake was presented for all to enjoy, provided by Siderno Pasticceria (Members Roccisano Brothers), to their delight! Another GREAT example of their fine continental products and their generosity! Grazie to them!

A huge Thank You to Christian & Daniel Cipri for the creation of video footage and imagery, capturing the event. Their enthusiasm is evident to all alike. Thankyou fellas!

On the "other side of town" 10 of our c

"I had one of these and in this car, I ...."  The day was full of conversation. The traditional stalls providing the Mustacioli, nougat and other delights! The Castagna Man was there cooking up a feast all day!

At midday, a table for 25 members was set and PIZZA for members, was organised, courtesy of IMSMC... all in attendance left the table, very satisfied, indeed.

Thank You to our members that participated in these 2 events, giving our Club a presence in the wider community!

Festa Della Repubblica at Club Marconi 2023

Festa Della Repubblica at Club Marconi! What a day, we thought we were arriving early, to get organised, yet by the time we arrived - half the club cars were in position! Two hours to go, before we had to be parked!

The attention to our cars was immediate, creating huge interest!

Meanwhile we were "setting up" our stall, parking our cars, setting up teardrop banners and flags. A huge THANK YOU to our helpers, Mick Stivala, Lena Zannello, Tony Albanese, Leo & John Di Rocco, Joe & Barbara Serratore,  for the great assistance in setting up. Cate Stivala, Thank You for your efforts at the club bancarella! We all know its a big job! The Outcome was OUTSTANDING!!!!

Every driver was offered a lunch voucher redeemable at the Club Marconi marquee ( Thankyou Club Marconi!)

At 245 PM, the Marconi Director, Angelo Ruisi, selected 3 top cars. This year, we decided to "select" 3 top cars - NOT 1st, 2nd, 3rd each receiving the same recognition! Congratulations To Vito Mazzotta, Nat Stillone and Tony Campisi!

A special Mention to Diana Gentile, of Club Marconi. Extremely efficient and always very accommodating. Everything ran smoothly!

Lastly, and not least - THANK YOU to all members that participated on the day. 71 members making an appearance, certainly a popular event! Each of our cars looked awesome! Thank you to the members that couldn't bring a car, but were able to make an appearance and participate in the festivities.

2023 Festa Della Repubblica at Club Marconi, was a huge hit and will always be one of our biggest events on the IMSMC social calendar!

We'll do that again & again!

Myrtleford Weekend 2023

On Friday the 19th of May 2023, 36 IMSMC members met and departed from Pheasants nest at 700am in the morning, destination Beechworth, Victoria. The closest we could get to Myrtleford, la fiera, due to no accommodation. The cavalcade of classic and modern Italian cars including a British piece of equipment cavalcaded south bound down along the Hume highway.  The trip was steady as we stopped in Goulburn for breakfast, a leg stretch in Yass, investigation of a land locked submarine in Holbrook and finally arrived in Beechworth..

Beechworth is a beautiful town retaining its colonial character. Gold was found in the area and proved to be rather fruitful. Ned Kelly and his gang roamed the area along with other bushrangers, Ned was captured in Glenrowan after a shoot-out with the constabulary. He was tried and put in gaol in Beechworth then transported and finally hung in Melbourne.

Rather harsh but the rules of the empire prevailed!

The weather on Friday was glorious and all cars performed rather well.

Our members were spread over two hotels, our bus company ensured prompt pickup to our organised events. After check in we gathered for our welcome dinner at” Milawa Lance mores merlot winery restaurant”. The restaurant was well presented, and we were greeted and served by very professional staff. The food was of exceptional quality along with entrees, mains and dessert, accompanied by wines which were local Italian varietals paired and recommended by the staff to the dinner. Needless to say, the restaurant was filled with the usual fun atmosphere created by IMSMC members. Another night to remember.

On Saturday morning we drove to Myrtleford and the festa started with a celebratory mass to St. Anthony including a procession then the “fiera” was proclaimed open. We attended wine tasting at two wineries, Michellinis and Billy Button and then lunch at the Fiera… There was food of all regions of Italy castagne (chestnuts), polenta, salsice di maiale (pork sausages) , arosticini and much much more the queues were long but it was worth the wait. Music and dancing prevailed in the piazza with many dancing, singing and enjoying themselves.

The evening dinner was at The Savoy soccer club the band on stage playing  a lot of Italian songs and members taking to the dance floor. The food was awesome, good wholesome Italian cooking “tavola calda style” meat, quails, polenta, minestrone etc etc and copious amounts of wine.

On Sunday we returned to Myrtleford. The drive from Beechworth to Myrtleford was enjoyed by all especially the “downhill run” on the way in and the “hill climb” on the way back it was so good some members contemplated doing it again! The growers market on Sunday saw a huge amount of home grown products for sale. Salamis, foodstuffs, honey, chestnuts, venison BBQ sausages and fresh organically grown vegetables.

Our cars were on display and appreciated by many. We looked so good in our IMSMC jackets that the photographer insisted on taking our photos! I requested the photographer take our good side only.

On Sunday night we all had our dinner at Bastoni pizzeria in Myrtleford, the pizzas were awesome, I think the cold weather made them extra special, Again the pizzas flowed until we could eat no more. Ice cream, Nutella pizza for dessert along with coffee completed our stay in the Victorian High country at “la fiera” in Myrtleford.

Our bus was on time and returned us to our hotels in Beechworth.

Monday morning saw our members leave and head north back to Sydney.

The weekend was enjoyed by all IMSMC members that participated I hope we can do it again in the near future…

500's at Enzo's Cucina

On Sunday the 16th of April, 22 Fiat 500's ( Il Cinquino) transported 38 participants to Enzo's Cucina in Camden, for an afternoon of Italian delights, great food and great company.

The Cinquini looked fantastic and attracted a HUGE amount of attention from the other guests of the restaurant! Amazing how much attention these iconic cars attract from the public!

It is always a wonderful thing, to have members and their family attend our events, sharing the IMSMC passion!

The staff & management of Enzo's Cucina are to be commended for the wonderful product and service offered by all staff. They are very accommodating, assisting our needs in every manner!

A raffle was held, with all prizes donated by members! All prizes are special... the "grand prize" being a limited edition, unique Fiat 500 poster produced by a Fiat 500 Club in France - Gerardo Mediati being a worthy winner - Extremely happy man!

Happy to report that everyone made it home safely - amazingly, the Sydney traffic extended courtesies on the roads - "It's just that kind of Car!!!"  La Cinquecento will always get you home!
