Wolongong Fraternity Club 2012

Sunday the 2nd of December, marked the final event for 2012.

It coincided with the first Sunday of the month breakfast at Oran Park Cafe, where 30 members and family met for breakfast. We also celebrated the Birthday of our Vice President of Charlie Losinno. Frank Roccisano (owner of the Oran Park Cafe) graciously donated an ice cream Birthday cake for Charlies birthday - Grazie Frank!

Afterwards, at 12:00midday, 15 club cars cavalcaded toward the Fraternity Club in Wollongong. Our cavalcade was lead by "the birthday boy" in his Fiat 500F, negotiating the hills and expressway with ease.

On arrival, our impact was immediate, with many visitors gathered around our colourful display.

Every driver was offered a complimentary plate of pasta (authentic & confirmed by our experts, to be home made sauce. Buonissimo!). Thank you to the committee of Sn. John the Baptist for their gracious offer.

Before long, it was time to leave...again our cars forming a guard of honour bound for home, attracting attention through the streets of Wollongong and all the way home!

Ladies & Gentlemen of IMSMC, your support and passion throughout 2012 is extremely evident and greatly appreciated by fellow members alike. Thank you! We look forward to an eventful 2013, our 5th birthday year.

On behalf of the committee, have a happy, safe and holy festive season.

Merry Christmas and  a prosperous 2013 to all.

IMSMC Chistmas Party

On Sunday the 25th of November over 150 members family and friends attended our Christmas lunch.
The venue was Trattoria La Vigna, Camden. Proprietor and new member of IMSMC had his staff prepare a wonderful setting, with the Christmas spirit having impact the moment we walked through the doors.
The staff of La Vigna did a magnificent job, catering for all 153 members and families. A 6 course meal fit for royalty certainly made for a memorable occasion. It was also the birthday of two members of the club on the day and quite fittingly Robert Losinno organised a cake for His Mum Carmel and fiance Elissa - Happy Birthday to you both!
Our raffle was extremely well supported by all that were present (Thank you!). A special mention to the Stillone, Mediati, De Nuntis, Portelli & De Iulio families for their donation of  raffle prizes. We look forward to sampling the coffee that new sponsor "Design Roast" graciously donated to the club Raffle - Thank you Dino Brescia!
We welcomed a number of new members, their cars are wonderful examples of the passion that we share in...we'll feature these in later posts.
2012 has certainly been a very busy year. A personal thank you to the hard working committee that give up so much of their time...their efforts are "second to none"!
On behalf of the entire committee, we thank you, each member, for your involvement, passion and efforts in making our club, probably one of the most vibrant in Sydney. We wish you each, a very happy, safe & holy Christmas. We look forward to maintaining activity, passion and great friendship in 2013 with you all.
Buon Natale!

Norton St Festa 2012

On Sunday the 29th of October, 33 IMSMC cars were presented in a Static display at the Norton street festa di Leichhardt.

Once again our display created a great deal of interest with 100’s of visitors surrounding our cars at every moment of the day. The vibrant and pastel colours creating the gelato shop effect.

Wonderful to see some new members present their cars for the firt time, with Giuseppe Sette presenting his wonderful Alfa Spider, Graham Smith: Great to see “FATSO” again, Tony Artinian with his newly acquired 131 and  Peter Cartwright with his wonderful example of his 850TC Abarth. Member Danielle Sullo was questioned by the police, as he had parked in a no stopping zone. Fortunately our registrar Leo Di Rocco swiftly cleared up that “situation”.

The day unfolded with an estimated 100 000 visitors, enjoying all things Italian. Gelato, coffee “espresso” and the famous “porchetta roll” made for a memorable Breakfast “and” lunch for some!

The stories were plentiful as many “elderly visitors” reminisced of their achievements of yesteryear in exact models of our cars!

A great result ladies & gentlemen. A wonderful day in maintaining our very high profile within the Historic car fraternity!

Hunter Valley 2012

On the weekend of the 14th October, members of IMSMC partook in an excellent weekend away in the Hunter Valley. What a great weekend guys, it was awesome! After the weather conditions prevailing from the South and travelling Northwards through the Sydney Metro and into the Hunter Valley region on Thursday and Friday, Rain, hail, black ice and snow could not stop 13 IMSMC classic cars from travelling to the Hunter valley for two days of relaxing activities!

All members were determined to drive their classics and were rewarded with two glorious days of fine weather.
After meeting at McDonalds’ we moved off onto the F3 motorway, the vehicles travelled due north and into the Hunter wine area. Our first stop Tyrell’s winery, were the staff awaited our arrival; Fine wine was tasted amongst a murmur of conversation and appreciation.
The guessing competition was won by member Giovanna Romeo, she guessed that the wine barrels hold 2900 litres of wine each. IMSMC is not only a great club but very educational.
The wine tasting gave us an appetite. The picnic tables were set up and the usual culinary delights were enjoyed.
Our next stop De Bortoli winery were our guest entertained us during the wine tasting. Nothing like a few laughs over some fine wine!
Our last stop was at First Creek, and as usual was memorable. Vice President Charlie Losinno drove his FIAT 500 from Greysteynes to Pokolbin, to commemorate this feat we parked the 500 inside the cellar doors.

After a busy day we returned to our Hotels and ready for dinner and a few refreshing ales.
Two members attended the opera at Wyndam Estate, a fact finding mission for and on behalf. “IMSMC GOES TO THE OPERA”, start saving your pennies, possibly another future IMSMC event!
Sunday morning and all ready to attend the Hunter valley gardens “Spring Cruisin”. Cars of all shapes and sizes arrived in an orderly fashion. Some cars that attended were very special and brought back many memories especially the Holden Sandman.

Our president Gianni Di Rocco won a bottle of wine, someone liked his car!
Alas, all good things come to an end; Our table was full of goodies provided by a number of generous members for Sunday lunch, all packed and our members and cars were Southward bound.
Thank you to all members of IMSMC who participated for making this yet another memorable event.

IMSMC AGM 2012

Friday 5th October at Club Marconi, 70 IMSMC members and family attended the 2011-2012 Annual General meeting.

Our respective committee members presented their reports, new members were introduced, we look forward to having them participate in our events and share in the IMSMC spirit - Welcome guys! Each member was given the opportunity to present their ideas, each has been noted and will each be attended to and will be reported back in forthcoming liaisons.

Some special presentations took place - with 2 members receiving a gift voucher for their 100% attendance record. Well done Robert Losinno & Sandy Stillone. There is a 3rd person too! ( Who could that be?).

Alessandro Di Rocco received a voucher for his efforts regarding the upkeep of the club Blog. Elissa Portelli was rewarded for her efforts in establishing and up keeping  the IMSMC Facebook page!

A special award was presented to Member Michael Stivala. Michael showed great initiative at this years Auto Italia in Canberra. At 5:00am in the morning Michael, washed and chamoised 5 member cars, of his own initiative, assisting with the preparation of club cars for the static display later that day! Thanks Michael and great act of kindness and comradery!

At the conclusion of the AGM, each person attending received a complimentary "famous" Marconi pasta meal!!

Our club continues to grow and it's wonderful to see the amount of "extended family" that participates in our events; a mix of young, younger & youngest equates to what IMSMC has become! We would like to encourage maximum participation at the Annual Ball of 2013, to be held at the Mediterranean House in Five Dock, Saturday Night, 2nd March, 2013. This will be a 5th birthday celebration!

Each member was reminded and encouraged to apply  for any committee position and are welcome to work alongside any of the existing committee members in the forthcoming year!

No ballot was required, as the 7 positions were uncontested. Our committee will continue to do what they do...the greatest reward for our current committee is the high level of enthusiasm and support we receive from our members. Thanks for making IMSMC, what we believe to be, the most active car club in the Country!

Burwood Spring Festival

On Sunday the 16th of September, seventeen IMSMC passionate members presented their cars at the Burwood Spring Festival. On a glorious Spring Day, our display created a fantastic array of colour and style.

Within minutes of arrival, our cars created an immediate impact with many visitors to our display. We also were graced by the presence of new member, Luca Bartolomei, with a beautiful example of a FIAT 600 - great looking car Luca!

Worth noting that the "travel kits" that live in members cars are becoming more ellaborate - Robert Lossino presenting a gas burner with his 12 cup caffetiera, grazie Rob!

It was wonderful to see a great number of members & family (without cars) visit their fellow members on the day - certainly maintained a large crowd of people amongst our display.

The day concluded with a presentation and congratulations to Lloyd (and Cathy) Jamieson that was awarded the best 1960's classic, with his beautiful 1969 FIAT 500F - well done Lloyd!
