Ladies and
Gentlemen, the committee would like to compliment all the members that
presented themselves and their classic vehicles. No other club could muster as
many cars (twenty one in total!) to display on the day.
Weather conditions were poor and our members showed their
passion by attending and being part of a great day. A fellow approached me
and said his father had an 850 it was the family car and they all went to
church in the car he told me his dad smoked and how they nearly ran out of air
and choked on the fumes. It was necessary to restrain myself because it could
have been smoke from the engine, petrol fumes into the cabin or a number of
other characteristics of the vehicle!
The presentation of the vehicles was of international
standard, as usual, the colours were resplendent. The day progressed so quickly
with a great deal of socialising and discussion. The Losinno family took
advantage of the portico of a high rise building which sheltered most of us
from the rain, their blanket was adorned with many “goodies and treats” after
all it was Australia day!
Members Tony Romeo, Charles Berman & Antonio Casale
presented new additions to the stable – a 1974 Alfa Romeo Spider 2000, a 1971
Alfa Romeo Giulia 1300 and a 1969 Fiat 500F respectively - wonderful machines
fellas! A number of members were seen wandering out of the “Paragon” a
great pub. I was told that a number of issues were discussed, resolved and
after toasting the day in traditional method re-joined others in the activities
of the day.
Many eateries throughout Sydney were graced by blue
shirts, members enjoying a great lunch. Ladies and gentlemen the year has well
and truly begun and is shaping up to be a great year
Happy Australia Day!
