On the 26th January
2013, IMSMC celebrated Australia Day at ‘CARnivale’ in our beautiful city of Sydney. 18 IMSMC cars
assembled at the Domain car park bright and early from 7.00am and enjoyed a
free breakfast consisting of a sausage sizzle and coffee, kindly donated by the
Rotary Club of Granville.
Members enjoyed a relaxed
breakfast in the company of friends and then our convoy of our 18 spectacular
Italian cars travelled to our destination on Macquarie Street. For the first
time this event was sponsored by Supercar d’Elegance and is one of the
largest vehicle displays in the southern hemisphere. This event was a
fantastic turnout overall and displayed everything from Ferrari's to Fords to
Fiats and so on. There were many proud
owners from a diverse range of clubs, spending Australia Day displaying their
‘pride and joy’.
The day was a great event for
‘young’ and ‘old’, members enjoyed a relaxed Australia Day doing what they like
to do best and mingled with the crowds as they asked questions about their
historic vehicles and enjoyed the interest the public displayed in taking
photos of their unique Italian cars, our cars certainly stood out from the
rest!
The future members of IMSMC or
the ‘younger ones’ enjoyed the Australia day activities including the entertainment in Hyde Park. The most memorable part of their day was the
ride around the city in the double-decker historic buses. These youngsters
showed off their IMSMC gear and their Australia Day paraphernalia as they
travelled around the city on the historic buses. What great ambassadors for IMSMC!
Our members showcased their
vehicles until 5pm and left on the day with a CARnivale 2013 commemorative
medallion. Overall, another
successful event and I am sure many are looking forward to celebrating
Australia Day in IMSMC style once again in 2014! Thanks for your participation!
