On the weekend of the 14th October, members of
IMSMC partook in an excellent weekend away in the Hunter Valley. What a great
weekend guys, it was awesome! After the weather conditions prevailing from the South
and travelling Northwards through the Sydney Metro and into the Hunter Valley
region on Thursday and Friday, Rain, hail, black ice and snow could not stop 13
IMSMC classic cars from travelling to the Hunter valley for two days of relaxing
activities!
All members were determined to drive their classics and were
rewarded with two glorious days of fine weather.
After meeting at McDonalds’ we moved off onto the F3 motorway,
the vehicles travelled due north and into the Hunter wine area. Our first stop Tyrell’s
winery, were the staff awaited our arrival; Fine wine was tasted amongst a
murmur of conversation and appreciation.
The guessing competition was won by member Giovanna Romeo,
she guessed that the wine barrels hold 2900 litres of wine each. IMSMC is not only a great club but very
educational.
The wine tasting gave us an appetite. The picnic tables were
set up and the usual culinary delights were enjoyed.
Our next stop De Bortoli winery were our guest entertained
us during the wine tasting. Nothing like a few laughs over some fine wine!
Our last stop was at First
Creek, and as usual was memorable. Vice President Charlie Losinno drove his FIAT 500
from Greysteynes to Pokolbin, to commemorate this feat we parked the 500 inside
the cellar doors.
After a busy day we returned to our Hotels and ready for
dinner and a few refreshing ales.
Two members attended
the opera at Wyndam Estate, a fact finding mission for and on behalf. “IMSMC
GOES TO THE OPERA”, start saving your pennies, possibly another future IMSMC
event!
Sunday morning and all ready to attend the Hunter valley
gardens “Spring Cruisin”. Cars of all shapes and sizes arrived in an orderly
fashion. Some cars that attended were very special and brought back many
memories especially the Holden Sandman.
Our president Gianni Di Rocco won a bottle of wine, someone
liked his car!
Alas, all good things come to an end; Our table was full of
goodies provided by a number of generous members for Sunday lunch, all packed
and our members and cars were Southward bound.
Thank you to all
members of IMSMC who participated for making this yet another memorable event.
