On Sunday morning the 12th of February, 40 club cars were presented by their members for our annual photoshoot. So overwhelming was the result, that the committee have already have discussions regarding employing a professional photographer for 2012.

With so many cars, we had to go into plan B...created more space! We approached the management & staff of La Montage...they quickly accomodated our needs, allowing us to utilise their private carpark. The colours were amazing (The Gelato shop effect!). Obviously Dante Giacose spoke to "someone" and arranged a PERFECT summer morning - certainly an unusual sight!

We met new Member Michael Tringali for the first time and his beautiful example of a Fiat 124 CC - nice car Michael. Nick Vasile presented his unrestored Fiat 500, "keep it original Nick!!!" and member Dino Capozzi arrived with his recently restored Fiat Abarth 1000Ot replica spider - worth the wait Dino!! Also, we were in safe hands and "Vigile" John Losinno directed traffic and kept the "hoons at bay" in the Alfa Carabinieri car - thanks John, we all feel we are in safe hands!

At approximately 10:30am, all cars exited the carpark. Some were homeward bound, others made their way down Norton Street, the masses onto Parramatta road, M4 Freeway, bound for Club Marconi. Our cars were placed in the downstairs secure carpark. Upon arrival, inside the club, refreshments were plentiful! Soon afterwards, we entered Oscars Trattoria, were the afternoon unfolded into a perfectly relaxed event where food, drink and great company a plenty! A special thank you to Fabio Moralez (manager of the trattoria and the entire staff, as they looked after our every need).

Thankyou ladies & gentlemen of IMSMC! So far this year, the "club has given back" to those that have supported the Breakfast at Oran Park and the Lunch at Club Marconi. Each member received payment of these events, compliments of the club. That equates to free membership for the forthcoming year! Funds are raised by the membership renewals and the ever hard working committee, taking every opportunity to raise funds with merchandise sales. The kind support of our sponsors greatly assists in raising funds for the benefit of the club members. Your efforts and contributions are greatly appreciated.

NRMA Mororfest 2012.

18 Club cars, along with 60+ members, family & friends, created a wonderful display on Macquarrie street at the NRMA motorfest, held on Australia Day, in Sydney.

We were in the company of Domenico Romano (Hon. President of Fiat 500 Club Italia). Domenico was particularly impressed to see 8 x Fiat 500's that contributed to our display. Naturally Domenico has fallen in Love with "Our City Of Sydney", as member Michael Stivala & wife Cathy, assisted by taking Domenico to our famous Sydney landmarks.

Each member that attended with their Fiat 500, received a Fiat 500 Club Italia, full length visor decal, courtesy of Domenico. The remaining IMSMC members of Fiat 500 Club Italia, will receive their visor decal at upcoming events & opportunities.

New member Nick Vasile, brought the car of "another new member", Peter Cartwright. A wonderfully restored Fiat Abarth 1000TC. We welcome you both and we look forward to sharing many "motoring moments" in the future.

The day was full of family entertainment; music,international food & wine throughout Hyde Park. From what appeared to present itself initially as a rainy day, the weather settled with sunshine for the bulk of the afternoon, creating a very comfortable environment for all.

At the conclusion of the day, club secretary Lino De Iulio, presented Domenico with his 2012 NRMA Motorfest medallion. It was accepted with grattituide. We have been assurred that this will be placed in the trophy cabinet in the Museum in Garlenda, proudly displaying another peice of Australia!

New Year's Breakfast

On Sunday the 22nd of January, our club undertook its first event of 2012 - A new year breakfast, at the Oran Park Town Cafe!

Over 70 members, family & friends participated with their classic Italian Motor Vehicles. The car park was transformed into a setting, typical of an Italian Piazza, with many variations of Italian Marques, models and classic Auto Colours.

We were joined by Mr. Domenico Romano, honorary President of the Fiat 500 Club Italia -Garlenda. Domenico is thoroughly impressed with our club and it's members. He is truly confident that our club will continue to grow and will have a presence for many decades to come! He has commented and "documented" the family atmosphere that exists.He congratulates us all and consistently states, "You have a wonderful product!"

After a wonderful breakfast, a number of formalities were undertaken (informally!!!) Members were given the opportunity to express their sentiments. We thank those members for extending their thoughts and gratitude, especially toward the hard working committee.

Domenico was presented with 4 Fiat 500 espresso cups. Earlier he was presented with a Club cap, shirts and jacket. He accepted these gifts with great appreciation.

We also welcomed new member Davide Salmieri. Davide presented a wonderfully restored Fiat 500, just arrived from Italy. A beautiful car! Congratulations Davide.

At the conclusion of the Breakfast, whilst sitting at "the round table", I am happy to report that Domenico Romano and Frank Roccisano (the owner of Oran Park Town Cafe) became financial members of our club. Frank has a wonderful example of Fiat 124 spider. Welcome Frank. We look forward to frequenting your cafe and your company in forthcoming events!

IMSMC Visits Kindikids

On the 29^th November 2011, 5 of our IMSMC members visited the Kindikids Early Learning Centres at Edensor Park. The purpose of the visit was to introduce the children to the Italian Made Social Motoring Club and teach them about our cars to further enhance the children’s awareness of the community.

155 children from the three Kindikids Centres participated in the day. Vice President Charlie Losinno, Committee Member Maria Losinno and Members Andy Mendes-Lopes, Tony Romeo and Giovanna Romeo talked to the children about the cars they brought along; including a 1986 Ferrari 328 GTB Koeing, 1960 Fiat 600 and 1950 Fiat Topolino. The children loved hearing about the interesting facts about these historic cars and were amazed how different they were compared to the cars of today.

A highlight of the day was to hear that the models of the cars in front of them appeared in the Disney Pixar Cars 2 movie; specifically characters ‘Luigi’ and ‘Mr Topolino’.

Many questions were asked on the day; including ‘how fast do these cars go?’, ‘How old is the car?’ The children are a very bright bunch, they surprised us around the facts they were giving us on thecars and they were challenging our thinking and made us laugh with their interesting comments.

Each of the children had the opportunity to explore the features of the cars and sit in each of the cars and have a photo. The Ferrari was a big hit, all the children were keen to sit in this ‘fast red racing car’. The horn on the Topolino got a big work out on the day, the children thought it sounded funny. Other children were happy to pile into the Fiat 600 and hang out of the sunroof.

The educators of Kindikids also had the opportunity to have their photo with the cars and enjoyed the ride even though it was for a couple of minutes.

We would like to thank the management, staff and children of Kindikids for the experience of sharing our cars with them, it was very rewarding to know that we made the day of many children and taught them about our cars. We hope we can share the same experience with any future Kindikids children and welcome the families to get involved in the Italian Made Social Motoring Club.

IMSMC Christmas Party

On Sunday the 20th of November over 100 members, family and friends attended our 2011 Christmas lunch at Il Piatto Restaurant in Horsley Park.

It was wonderful to see so many Italian machines in the restaurant car park. A special mention to the members that braved the heat (without an air conditioner in their classic!).

By 11:30am, the restaurant was abuzz. Members continued to arrive while the outside temperature approached 37C mark. soon enough, appetizers & aperitifs (spuntino e aperitivo) - were served.

The "atmosfera Italiana" was extremely evident as the entree's, mains, cake and coffee were brought to our tables by the very competent staff at Il Piatto restaurant - refreshments were plentiful...the staff at Il Piatto truly met every expectation and performed their task with 100% accuracy and competence! Thank you Il Piatto!

A Club raffle was held after lunch - the prizes offered by our club sponsors and great supporters, Yvonne Legge (Ellen Di Rocco's mum), members Dino Capozzi, Frances & Gerardo Mediati, Gladesville Auto Body Works (Nat Stillone), Mastertouch Automotive (Maurizio & Lucy Puglisi) and Prodata Pty Ltd. Thank you also to "Campisi Delicatessen" (member Tony Campisi), who made it possible to allow the Club to offer every person a Mini Panettone.

A wonderful conclusion to 2011. Thank you to each member that has been active throughout 2011. Thank you for sharing in the IMSMC spirit. We look forward to another year of diverse events in 2012.

Norton St Festa

Sunday the 30th of October, 33 members of IMSMC prepared their cars impeccably and represented our club at the Norton street festa di Leichhardt.

Our committee was on site early and prepared the club stall - while our members assembled in Five Dock and then cavalcaded along Parramatta Road and the City West Link - bound for Leichhardt.

Every IMSMC gathering brings it's surprises - with some new additions to the club. Well done guys! We seem to have sparked a restoration/acquisition culture of classic and modern Italian cars.

It's always a very welcoming site, to see the great number of smiles that appear on visitors faces, when they reach our displays. Some of the stories that some of the "old fellas" tell, certainly raise an eyebrow or two!

Our club stall was frequented by passers by. Our Fiat 500 espresso & capuccino cups were are very popular item. Thanks to the stall keepers.

The entire length of northern Norton street was a mass of food & Italian produce. The aroma of all Italian cuisine probably wafted all the way to Katoomba!!!

The day drew to a close and once again, all hands on deck, with many members assisting with the pack up of products from our stall. Respective farewells and courtesies were extended and in a typical Italian manner, the machines exited Norton street and dispersed. A great sight travelling home along Parramatta Road - it's amazing how you can spot one of our Italian Machines in the distance amongst 1000 cars!

Pangallo

On Sunday the 16th of October, 51 members and friends attended our Club BBQ at the Pangallo Estate.

After a very punctual meeting at the McDonalds at Thornleigh we then cavalcaded along Pennant Hills Road on the F3 freeway. The Italian Machines (and guests) made there way toward Cessnock. An eye catching and head turning experience for us all, with every driver receiving freeway acknowledgements from the traffic we left behind!

As we arrived at the Estate, car by car, we transformed a piece of Cessnock into a Tuscan valley; with olive trees and grape vines forming an amazing backdrop for our fine machines!

Free tasting of Olives, Oil, wine and home made salami. The Club has new friends...Lyn & Michael, the proprietors of Pangallo estate who were extremely welcoming and accommodating. They genuinely appreciated our presence at their estate. We are so glad that they joined us for the day.

After our "tasting" the BBQ's were fired up - with EVERYBODY lending a hand...An array of Italian food hit the tables while the steaks, sausages, onions, bread rolls & salad were being prepared! An amazing variety of cakes (one surprisingly made from polenta) hit the table and to top it off, an espresso!

A raffle was organised on the day - First Prize a "Model Car; The Tributo Ferrai". Lyn Pangallo donated 2 bottles of wine for the raffle (another gracious offering).

A huge thankyou to the organisers and to everyone that contributed to the day. Another memorable IMSMC event - one that we will do again in the new year!

Burwood Classic

Sunday morning the 18th of September 21members of IMSMC presented themselves and their wonderful cars at the Burwood Spring Festival. A special thank you to the many, many, many friends, family and "non car members" that visited and contributed to the atmosphere that was beaming from our assembly!

The morning was proving to be a typical Summers morning as the temperature increased rapidly. Our members sought shelter under the trees. Chairs and esky's created an Oasis of comfort.

Fortunately, later in the morning, a cool breeze developed creating "The Perfect Spring Day".

Our display created a great deal of interest, attracting many visitors. Once again it's amazing how many people, at some stage of their driving life, owned a Classic Italian Made Car!

International cuisine, music & dancing were the flavour of the day - With every store in Burwood at the disposition of "shoppers".

Our club raffle was held at the end of the day, with Maurizio Puglisi picking up 1st prize - Fiat 500 nudge bar, Roberto Mattei winning 2nd prize - A Garlenda Fiat 500 shirt and Riccardo Capolino winning 3rd prize - a Bottle of First Creek Chardonnay!

The day came to a conclusion with the SES volunteers thanking us for our contribution to the day - our gate entry fee of $10 per car was donated entirely to them.

Eastern Creek 2011

Sunday the 28th of August, saw members of IMSMC participate at Shannon’s sponsored CMC day at Eastern Creek. As always, the day was a huge success. Thirty one classic Italian vehicles adorned the allocated track area the colours were resplendent and the cars certainly were ready to attract the attention of every admirer and spectator on the day. Compliments to all in the manner the cars were prepared. We all approached the track in an orderly fashion and proceeded onto the track to enjoy two laps of the race circuit. The cars moved around the track In true thoroughbred fashion performing nicely and without mishap.

The Fiat Topolino C series (alias ZIO Topolino) took the chequered flag on the day, could the driver please return the flag we shall need it for next year. Thank you!

Joe Lecce represented IMSMC with his FIAT 1100 sedan in the Presidents Concourse; we have it on good authority that Joe’s car made the judging a little more difficult than previous years. Thank you Joe, for your patience on the day, effort in preparing your car and representing our club.

It was good to see the famous marques including Volvo, Chevrolet, Renault, Jaguar and Volkswagen celebrating Birthdays. These marques were well represented on the day with a number of fine examples. A thank you note goes to Dino Capozzi who on the day donated a Ferrari book and two posters to the club which shall be used at some future club fund raising event. A number of visitors to our area commented on our display and congratulated us on the way we present not only our cars but also the way we present ourselves.

A picnic lunch which lasted all day was enjoyed by all followed with coffees and desert.

An eventful day and as usual all good things come to a close. See you next year.

Ferroagosto 2011

Ladies and gentlemen of IMSMC, Ferroagosto 2011 was once again a huge success. All members that registered for the event were present to enjoy a wonderful day full of entertainment. The day was filled with the usual food, drink and song. Alfredo Malabello entertained the crowd, performing on stage, while the clowns and other entertainers mingled amongst the crowd. The all time favorite accordion player entertained the crowd with renditions of “Volare” and some “Dean Martin” greats. Some members were seen enjoying a refreshing ale at the local watering hole. There was certainly no shortage of food, One can only eat so much, but wait there is more. There were many cake stalls and all were overflowing with many traditional delicacies.

Stalls,stalls and more stalls selling Italian wares and goods of every shape and description. It goes without saying that our vehicles certainly made the day with many people chatting and admiring. Does anyone know the woman's details that was sitting in the green 850 spider? Please forward the details for further processing.

IMSMC AGM 2011

On Friday evening the 5th of August, IMSMC held it's Annual General Meeting at Cub Marconi.

Our compliments to Club Marconi for preparing our room very eloquently. Truly Italian made!

The night included AGM formalities and general business No elections were required, under the model rules and we are happy to announce that the committee for 2011/2012, remains unchanged.

We were introduced to Mirella Perau from "Garage Specialties". Mirella and husband John, introduced a garage/showroom "Flooring Concept" to our members - a product that generated a great deal of interest. Thanks Mirella.

Each person who attended the AGM received a complimentary pasta dinner, offered by IMSMC - cooked to perfection! New Club Sponsor, CASA ITALIA, provided a great deal of sample produce, including Torrone, panforte, roasted almonds and lollies - these items are exclusive to CASA ITALIA, imported from Italy. Needless to say, that the abundance of sample produce dissapeared in a flash!

Members have also now received a 10% discount on all produce available on the CASA ITALIA web site, a very big thank you to CASA ITALIA on behalf of IMSMC.

Our Club raffle was well supported, with all tickets being sold - Thanks guys! Italian Made (The club), Gerardo & Frances Mediati along with CASA ITALIA contributed to the wonderful prizes on offer

Raffle items on the night included: Bottles of Wine, A Fiat 500 (limited edition New York Taxi model), an IMSMC Pack (containing 2 shirts, cap & Viser) a Meguires Car care kit and a wonderful CASA ITALIA hamper!

The night continued in great company - laughter and cheer! The year in review Video was on display for the entire evening, recounting some of our memorable events.

Like all "great IMSMC events", the night drew to a close (close to 11:00pm). many members chose to make use of the full range of facilities and entertainment on offer at Club Marconi.

Hunter Valley Run

Congratulations to all members of IMSMC and friends that attended the hunter valley wine tour. We all had a tremendous weekend. The day started early with a wonderful drive from Sydney to the Hunter Valley. The weather held out and developed into a clear warm winter’s weekend. Members that made the decision to drive their classics were pleased; while those that did not had the weekend to drown their sorrows with some of the world’s finest whites and reds.

Our first stop was Tyrells winery followed by our traditional picnic lunch. Members excelled in preparing the table with many fine foods which were accompanied by some recent counter purchases. The next stop was Broken Wood where a number of wines were introduced and savoured.

Next stop First Creek where the mood developed and the party continued. We believe the people from First Creek know who IMSMC are and expect us next year, in the evening dinner was a night of fine dining and drinking which ended with a short stroll and off to bed. Reports indicate that all slept very well, some better than others.

The next morning was spent at the tourist information center watching aircraft of all shapes and sizes land and takeoff while enjoying coffee and breakfast. Our next stop was De Bortoli wines. A bite to eat at the ex-servicemen’s club in Cessnock and then we were homeward bound. The Hunter has grown and continues to grow, it was noticed that a number of new wineries have opened their doors, into a favourite spot to visit close to Sydney. Good food, wine, country air and company all combined turned the weekend into another memorable IMSMC event. Next year shall be bigger and better.

Maurizio's Mystery Tour!

Sunday the 3rd of July saw the introduction of "MAURIZIO'S MYSTERY TOUR". A total of 15 club cars and 30 members, family & friends weaved their way through the streets of Sydney Metro.

The event started at the Shell Garage, Parramatta Rd Five Dock. Maurizio issued each driver with written instructions. Oliana & Nicolas Puglisi, issued each driver with a document holder, which was recently donated to our Club by "MOMO" - a courtesy extended by member Katia Stivala.

Five Dock to Chatswood, to Forrestville to Narrabean, where we stopped for a coffee! Up Pitwater Road Bound for NorthBridge Golf Club, where we relaxed and enjoyed a lovely lunch - choice of Flathead strips or an open Steak Sandwich. Refreshments were plentiful!

A wonderful day. The weather was perfect to "show off" the magnificent colours of our Italian Machines. The comments from passers by were many!

A special thank you to Maurizio, with the help of Lucy, created a well organised and worthwhile day!...No mystery about that!

Festa Della Republica 2011 @ Club Marconi

Sunday the 29th of May, combined with the Festa della Repubblica Celebrations, our Club conducted its Inaugural Ruote Classiche Concorso at Club Marconi!

Unfortunately, due to various reasons, some members were unable to attend at the last moment, but all the same 36 Italian Machines assembled to create a most memorable display. It seems that Gianni Agnelli & Co looked upon us, as most of Sydney metro experiencing heavy showers, yet hardly a drop at Club Marconi and it’s surrounds.

Our day began by meeting at the Stocklands carpark.

We then cavalcaded through the streets of Bossley Park bound for Club Marconi. Upon arrival, all logistics were implemented efficiently. We welcomed two new members Stefan Zenisek and Adama Pavirani, with two beautiful cars, a 1976 X-19 & a NEW 2011 Fiat 500 Abarth.

Our club stall was set up, complete with homemade biscuits (all secret recipes), IMSMC garments, and model cars. We have so many people to thank for the successful outcome, presentation and hard work that went into the club stall namely, Oriana De Iulio, Maria Losinno, Mina Di Marti, Antonella Sapienza, Giovanna Romeo, Lucy Puglisi, Caroline, Tony & Elissa Portelli, Frances Mediati, Caterina Lecce, Renee & Teresa Di Rocco. A very special mention to the IMSMC KIDZ - who towards the end of the day, walked around the Club Marconi grounds selling biscuits and cakes from a basket - so thanks to Gabriella, Christian, Daniel, Andrew, Valentina, Michael, Pasquale, Oliana and Nic - I hope we haven't forgotten anyone!

Club Marconi offered each of the IMSMC driver participants a Lunch & Drink voucher. Each Club Member that attended received a memento of the occasion. At approximately 3:00pm, the judges turned up and voted for the car of the day. Congratulations to Leo Di Rocco. The judges awarded Leo with the prize in his beautifully presented 1969 Fiat Abarth 695. Congratulations to all members in the manner in which they prepared and presented their cars - THANK YOU!

What a hugely successful day! Food, song, wine, music and great company! Thank you everyone...congratulations to you all!

Congratulations and thank you to each of the committee members that donate so much of their time - their efforts are reflected in the constant success of our events. This one can certainly go down as being one of our best!

ICT- Leichhardt

Sunday the 22nd of May, 13 of our club cars created a wonderful display at the Italian Forum in Leichhardt, to welcome the participants of ICT - this year a rally from Lygon Street, Carlton Victoria, to Norton Street, Leichhardt NSW.

Accompanying out 13 member cars was a large contingent of family members that waited patiently at the restaurant "Sapore della Vigna" awaiting the arrival of the competitors cars. IMSMC cars created a typical classic Italian setting, reminiscent of the classic 60'-70's period. Cars of the IMSMC display included 500's, 600's, a 124, 128, Topolino's, Alfa 105, and a special mention to member Domenic Ardino who presented a unique 1967, FIAT 206 Dino Spider.

Thank you to Mastertouch Automotive , who offered wine to the members and Gladesville Automotive, for coffee later onin the afternoon, while standing around in the piazza it really felt like you were in Italy!

We were joined by a number of members throughout the afternoon - with one young visitor from Italy exclaiming, "It's difficult to find such wonderful examples of these cars, in Italia!"

Members from IMSMC made a wonderful contribution to the Italian Connection Trophy, an event that our club was part of at the first rally and has continued to support since 2008. We have had 2 members participate in the past and from some discussions it looks like some more may well participate in the Sydney to Melbourne rally!

National Motoring Heritage Day: Wollongong

On a cool Sunday morning, sixteen IMSMC cars with double the amount of members and family, assembled at the Patridge VC rest area at Narellan. A brilliant array of classic colours! Members Tony & Giovanna Romeo, presented their latest acquisition, a 1960 Fiat 600, for its maiden voyage! Quite fittingly, they also won a bottle of wine in the member raffle, held just before departure!

All sixteen vehicles kept pace and stuck together all the way to our destination, with three Fiat 500's (deserving special mention) setting the pace; Charlie Losinno as the head car (we couldn't catch him!), Leo Di Rocco keeping an eye on things in the middle in his 695 and Lloyd Jamieson keeping a watchful eye just in front of our tail car, Maurice Puglisi in his Lancia - thanks Maurice!

Upon arrival we were pleasantly surprised to find another two "new" members, Graham Chegwidden & Bob Teece, already at the Fraternity club, having driven two wonderful examples of a Fiat 124CC & a Fiat1100.

The organisers graciously offered each member a Barbeque lunch and also presented us with "Castagne". A very kind gesture.

Our club stall was in full swing, with many people obtaining a Club profile & request for membership sheet.

In amongst the many visitors asking questions to many of our members, about their cars, you could often hear an outburst of group laughter (certainly the mark of an IMSMC event).

Like all good things, the day came to a conclusion. The machines fired up and we headed north to Sydney for a wonderful drive that capped off a very memorable visit to the Capital of Southern Sydney - Wollongong!

Auto Italia 2011

Saturday & Sunday the 16th & 17th of April, IMSMC participated in Auto Italia 2011. After meeting at the Mobil truck Stop at Pheasants Nest, 17 IMSMC vehicles cavalcaded down the Hume Hwy. First stop, McKay VC rest area, where cakes, biscuits, coffee (corretto) was presented. New member Francesca Mediati, made the stop memorable by adorning the rest area table with fresh bread rolls, select hot salami, ham and cheese slices. The unexpected surprise always makes the day, thankyou Francesca! Our first lottery draw for a bottle of red wine was won by Mina and Joe Di Marti.

Our next stop was the Goulbourn Bakery.. The cars were filled up with fuel and our members topped up with more food in a very warm and cosy environment. All cars were running nicely, a few minor hiccups were quickly rectified by club mechanics. A special mention to Robert Lecce, Maurizio Puglisi and Nat Stillone in assisting with their expertise. Thank you guys! The second bottle of wine was won by Gerardo Mediati.

As the 17 cars convoyed toward Canberra via the Federal Highway we waved to the "local staff" hiding in the bushes. Upon arrival in Canberra we booked into our rooms, some members rested, while others made their way to the Italo-Australian Club for refreshments! At 4:30pm, our president John Di Rocco, exited and made his way to meet the Italian Consulate at the Italian Embassy, where John presented the Ambassador Gianludovico De Martino Di Montegiordano, with a club pennant. John also explained the aims and specific objectives of our club, which were received with a great deal of admiration and satisfaction.

The evening saw 35 of our club members and families sitting down for a meal at the Chinese restaurant (up stairs in the Italo Australia Club) were we received copious amounts of food which was enjoyed by all.- Thank you to the restaurant staff.

At the conclusion of dinner, new member Lucy Puglisi offered all an after dinner Easter egg, thank you Lucy! Friend of our club Biaggio Lombardi entertained our members with a location joke, with the end result "exploding" in laughter - it involved a serviette and narration - I guess you had to be there!

The next morning we gathered and left for the grounds of Old Parliament house but before departing the third bottle of red wine was won by Giovanni Ciampa.

Sunday, approximately 400 cars assembled on the lawns of Old Parliament house. There was everything from Alfa’s to Zagato’s. Our club received 2 prizes, Joe Lecce winning the Best Sedan with his wonderfully restored 1100D Riviera and Francesca Mediati with her Gerardo Mediati prepared series 2 850 sports coupe won the best coupe. Congratulations to you both! Gerardo needed to contend with a series of phone calls - which initially caused "grief" - but all was revealed and sorted!

After the presentations, we were homeward bound. Club mechanics were called upon for minor issues along the way ensuring all cars and members reached their homeward destinations safely..

Walnut Run

On Sunday morning, the 27th of March Members from IMSMC gathered to participate in what has become our annual Walnut Run.

At around 8am we departed from Birkshire Park and made our way up the mountains to Mt. Irvine. Over 20 families came along and brought with them some very special vehicles. The early birds made the most of the breakfast snacks that were available in store at the SHELL service station and were graced by the arrival of a very special vehicle prepared by Mr Joe Lecce and son Robert.

Congratulations Joe on your beautifully restored 1964 Fiat 1100D Riviera sedan. Joe made his maiden voyage and first presentation to the members on this eventful afternoon. We also met with new member Kerry and Jude Terry, in their beatiful 3.2L Alfa Brera. We particular like the colour of Kerry's car, IMSMC Royal blue. Nice colour Kerry!

A special mention MUST go to member Vince Santoro. He and "buddy" his pet dog, took "The 1969 Fiat 500" for the trip to Mt Irvine. The little legs of the classic worked extremely hard as it negotiated the hills extremely well. Unfortunately, Vince experienced a slight hiccup but "All part of motoring in a little Classic" said Vince, "Nothing a good mechanic can't fix!"

Onto Kookootonga Farm, where the IMSMC visitors picked and purchased over 100kg's of Chestnuts, no walnuts!!! We should have changed the name of the event for 2011.

All done, down to Bilpin Fruit Bowl for a picnic lunch. The IMSMC restaurant came alive - An array of the finest foods and beverage. The compulsory Caffetiera was on the boil. Meanwhile, some members deciding to "kick back" and enjoy the sweet aromas, while others went into the farm and pick fresh apples! delicious!

Before we knew it, it was time to go! Homeward bound. The classics, new and older made their way down the steep descents of Bilpin.

The Waterfront

On Sunday the 13th of March. Members contributed significantly to the display at the Italian Waterfront Festa at Homebush Bay. The display created by IMSMC included 28 cars and 1 supercharged Vespa!

We were joined by our very good friends of Combined Italian Automobile Organisation (CIAO!), Ducati Owners Club, Classic Italian motorcycle association of Australia and historic cars from other clubs.

A grand total of 85 vehicles made up the display.

On a very warm, humid day - Thanks Sydney - our club was exposed to many people. Merchandising sales were up, with Maria Losinno and Oriana De Iulio working feverishly to satisfy the crowd with our club merchandise. Thank you ladies!

As the temperature rose a number of members began to share their refreshments from their “esky's”. One of the stalls had "chilled limoncello" for sale; Leo Di Rocco purchased a bottle and shared with all club members! Thanks Leo.

The day progressed with a great deal of entertainment - music, pasta, pizza, cakes and coffee!

Our members remained at the Waterfront until 4:00pm.

Just as we were about to leave, Lino De Iulio walked from one of the restaurants and shared 2 trays of Arrancini and 3 pizzas with the members. Another gracious gesture, Thankyou Lino!

IMSMC Annual Ball

Saturday the 26th of February saw members and guests attend the annual IMSMC Ball. This year we celebrated our third birthday. The ball this year saw 209 attendees enjoy a night of fun, food, song and dance - A true "Italian Made" experience.

Guests were greeted with beer, champagne and canapé’s served at 6:00pm followed by a spectacular dinner served at 7:00pm by the highly professional and efficient staff of Castel D'Oro.

Guests enjoyed the entertainment and within ten seconds of the music starting the dance floor was full and remained that way throughout the night. It was amazing to see how many remembered the Nut bush!

27 items were raffled in our monster raffle, every table picked up at least 1 prize! The lucky door prize being won by Dino Capozzi, one night in the Hunter Valley! A very big thankyou to our sponsors, their continued support is greatly appreciated.

Smiles, hugs and laughter concluded the evening along with many words of thanks and appreciation being expressed to the organisers and a very big thank-you to James Stillone for his incredible photography on the night!

Once again, an amazing turnout of members and guests we hope to see you all again next year.

Motorfest 2011

On a very Challenging day, "weather wise", Australia Day 2011, 19 of our club members (with their cars) braved the Hot & Humid conditions and created a beautiful display on College street at this years NRMA Motorfest- The wonderful colours of each of our cars created, appropriately, a gelato bar effect!

The day was full of family entertainment. Our members took advantage of the venues that were open on the day including the many restaurants, pubs and historic bulidings. Hyde Park was a site of refuge and excitement. Music, dancing, international food stalls,espresso coffee and even a wine making exhibition!

Sydney Harbour was "buzzing" with an amount of watercraft reminiscent of the Sydney to Hobart. The traditions were maintained with the presentation of the biggest Aussie flag draped from a helicopter, the ferry race, the 21 gun salute and a spectacular aeronautical display of the F18A Hornet- from the Royal Australian Air Force, truly awesome.

Each member that participated received a commemorative medallion and show bag. The show bag contained an application form to join "The NRMA Classic Car Club."This is free of charge. By joining, you receive a membership keyring and a 50% discount on subscription to the Australian Calssic Car Magazine. Our president also arranged a copy for every member that came along (with and without their car) a 2011 Classic Car Calender. Thank you to the members that did come along a paid us a visit!

It was particularly pleasing about 30 of our members, family and friends, were gathered, all sitting around, seeking protection from the suns rays under the Morton Bay Fig trees, having a chat, a laugh and sharing all the different "goodies" that we each had in our "tucker boxes and Esky's". Our club provided some complimentary refreshments and member, Mr Di Marti very graciously, ran to his office fridge (in the city) and returned with some very refreshing cold liquid - Thanks Joe.

Christmas Party

Sunday the 21st of November saw 158 members family and friends attended the 2010 Christmas party at Martha's Caffe in Vineyard. The day was full of surprises; The weather was splendid, more members attended our Christmas Lunch than previous years...

Many members drove their classics to the venue. The car park definitley highlighted that something "special" was happening! Appetiser pizza was served, the refreshments were in ample supply. The verandah was a buzz with conversation and laughter.

Before long, we moved into the restaurant. After a brief address by our president, the buffet was opened for all to enjoy. Later in the afternoon our raffle was held, with an array of prizes offerred by our club sponsors and supporters - Thank you ; Prodata, MasterTouch Automotive, Di Rocco Family, De Iulio Family, Frances & Gerardo Mediati, NRMA Vintage & Veteran Insurance and IMSMC.

The surprises kept coming, with a visit from Santa Claus. All the children received a Christmas stocking from Santa. Then each adult received a Mini Pandoro provided with the great support of Campisi Delicatessen in Austral.

Coffee, fresh summer fruits and a wonderful cake was served with a closing speech from the President and final word from Mr Giuseppe Lecce, thanking the efforts of the committee and the support of all the new and familiar faces in attendance.

The greatest reward for the committee is the event attendance and success! This is a true reflection of the on-going efforts of our club committee. Thank you to everybody that makes up the IMSMC family. The family continues to grow which brings a new challenge.... finding a restaurant that is big enough to cater for 150+ people with a car park in the Sydney metropolitan area! Bring on 2011. Merry Christmas everyone. Have a happy & safe festive season.

Norton St. Festa 2010

Sunday the 21st saw 21 members of IMSMC and their cars participate in the 2010 Norton Street Festa. Our meeting place being the Office-works car park on Parramatta road. While at the car-park many members shared a "story or two" about their trip in: the public cannot but help notice our cars.

After a brief induction The Cavalcade to Norton Street was underway. What a sight. 21 Italian Classics on Parramatta Road - it felt like it was 1967!!! 99% of surrounding traffic, actually allowed the bulk of our cavalcade to stay together...Thank YOU Sydney!!

Upon arrival, our impact was immediate. Our cars were surrounded all day...every member keeping a watchful eye on one anothers cars and being kept occupied answering many questions of the 1000's of visitors to our display.

Throughout the day members had the opportunity to visit the many coffee shops, ice cream bars, food stalls and purchase the many "Italian Delights" on offer throughout Norton Street.

Our Club Stall was kept active - Unbelievable "bunch of Salespeople" exist in our club. Your efforts being very fruitful, with our club selling lots of merchandise.

Arguably, the car of the day that deserves special mention is the wonderfully restored &presented FIAT 1924 501C Tourer, owned by Inez (and Norm) Mitchell! A true credit to you and a pleasure to have such a wonderful (rare and special) motor-vehicle as part of our club. A definite attraction and significant contribution to our display at the Norton Street Festa.

500 Photoshoot

On Sunday the 17th of October, our Club Fiat 500's gathered for a photo shoot, complete with picturesque skyline including the Sydney Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. 19 of our Club Fiat 500's gathered for the occasion day which included the drive, stop over for a coffee at "Bar Italia" on Norton Street Leichhardt and then weaving through the Sydney arterial roadways; bound for Club Marconi.

Like a scene from the original "Italian Job", our 500's (no mini's here!) made their way along Parramatta Road, M4 freeway and onto Cumberland Highway, toward Club marconi! Many people in the traffic waving, honking and commenting on how our little cars moved and at times overtook the slower vehicles along the way.

Our Club members were well catered for by the staff of Club Marconi, allowing our classics to be parked "underground" behind closed gates for security purposes.

Like clock work, we moved into Oscars Trattoria where we enjoyed a refreshing beverage, soon to be served our antipasto then a mixed platter of 3 different pasta's. Tortellini Boscaiola, Spaghetti Marinara, Penne con Pesto. As Lunch settled with a good wine, hot olives, anchovies and to everyone's surprise, our chef Francesco offered, with compliments, and array of Pizza's! Coffee was served to "top off" a wonderful day!

A huge THANK YOU to James Stillone. James gave up his day to act as official photographer. James your expertise and enthusiasm is greatly appreciated. Also, our great appreciation to Maurizio Puglisi & Enzo Cacciotti of Mastrertouch Automotive. They were our official "support vehicle" in case of any "mishaps" with our iconic little cars. Fortunately, they were not kept busy - but it did give us great peace of mind knowing they were there to protect and assist.

We look forward to creating and maintaining the attention to ITALY'S LITTLE ICONIC CAR and photograph our cars in the best City in the world - Our city of Sydney.

Burwood Spring Classic

Sunday the 19th of September, saw 20 vehicles of IMSMC arrange a colourful display, partaking in the Burwood Spring Fair.

The day was full of activity, including rides, farm animals, International Food stalls - music and many classic cars of all makes and models on display ranging from the Classic Fiat 500 to 457 Chev's!

A huge number of people visited our display, the Gelato Bar effect that the colours that each of our club cars create is a serious attraction.

Member Dino Capozzi presented his BEAUTIFUL Monte Carlo (Monte Dino) - Maden voyage for Dino and his machine. A true credit to you Dino and the "engineer" that assisted in creating this magnificent mid engine classic.

Once again, we must thank the many members that (without their cars) made the effort to visit us on the day, bringing with them their children (and grand children) to enjoy the wonderful atmosphere in Burwood Park.

Member Rando Finochiaro was kept busy all in day in his Ice Cream Van - many members enjoying the gracious efforts and "offerings" by Rando! Thanks!

South Western Classic

On Saturday the 11th of September, IMSMC participated in the South Western Classic, held at Thomas Hassall College, Hoxton Park. 17 members presented their cars in spectacular fashion. A number of other members visited on the day, as their cars were unavailable to participate. We thank them for taking the opportunity to visit fellow members and contribute to the "mood" of the day.

Our day began with a meeting at Stocklands Car park Bossley Park and right on time, at 8:30am, the thoroughbreds made their way to Hoxton Park. We had a brief "static display" on the corner of Bossley Road and Cowpasture road, whilst Maria Losinno sorted out an "electrical situation" with her cinquecento!

As we made our way toward the College, Cowpasture Road was transformed into an Italian "Strada", (some members looking, but not stopping at 1 (or was it 2?) sets of traffic lights!)

Upon arrival, our cars had immediate impact! A very mild 20C at 9:30am - sun shining and highlighting the "mod colours" of each of our classics. Food, dance, fun, rides and great company, soon unveiled. We were surrounded by classics and street machines from many clubs with some amazing engineering!

Our committee organised a pizza lunch for all who attended, (we certainly know how to eat!). At the business part of the day our Club was awarded the BEST CLUB DISPLAY!

A wonderful result for each of our enthusiastic participants. Further, the prize money ($500) was spread equally amongst 5 of our members...sharing the prizes were:
John Di Rocco, Riccardo Cappolino, Maurizio Puglisi, Lloyd Jamieson & Gerardo Mediati. Congratulations to our winners.

At the conclusion to the day, the event organisers offered an extreme amount of gratitude and are hopeful of our participation next year.

Thank you to each participant - your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated and is obviously well noted by the public.

Eastern Creek

On Sunday the 22nd of August, IMSMC created a static display of 26 Italian cars at the Shannons Eastern Creek Classic (SECC).

Our display was fantastic! Many a passersby commented on the wonderful array of colours and varying styles of our vehicles. We were surrounded by approximately 1800 classics of all shape, size and model. The Council of Motor Clubs (CMC) is proudly boasting that the SECC is "probably" the largest gathering of Classic motor vehicles in the Southern Hemisphere.

Many of our members, and visitors, purchased memorabilia from the stalls around pit lane - some fortunate to discover some "rare" finds. The day also proved worthwhile for a number of our club sponsors, introducing themselves to visitors with classic cars! Quite a few membership forms were issued to interested visitors - we anticipate a few new members; we certainly established contact with clubs of other Italian Marques.

Late in the afternoon at around 3:15pm, our lap was underway. Like a scene back in time - it looked like something out of 1967 at Nurburguring racetrack!

One member remarked after the lap that there is nothing like the sound & feel of an Italian Motor @ 6000rpm! Frankly, we couldn’t agree with them more.

A wonderful display from members of IMSMC, to all that were with us on the day, we would like to thankyou all.

IMSMC AGM 2010

Friday the 6th of August IMSMC's Annual General Meeting was held at Club Marconi, in the Oscar/Elettra room. 43 financial members with partners made up 65 attendees.

After a brief word of thanks and report from the club executives the committee for 2010/2011 was announced.

7 nominations were received filling the committee positions.

Member Tony Romeo announced the new committee for 2010/2011.

New members were given the opportunity to present themselves (and their cars) to the assembly. A number of issues were raised - all ideas welcomed and taken on board. Gerardo mediati presented a catalogue for the benefit of any Fiat 500 member wishing to upgrade or restore a 500.

Our annual Ball for 2011 was announced - the night of nights, to be held at Castel D'Oro in Five Dock on Saturday the 26th of February 2011. All details are posted on our events page and you will be reminded as we approach the date!

Many thanks to our sponsors, namely; Mastertouch Automotive, Gladesville Auto Body Works, NRMA VVC Insurance and R & M Automotives for their raffle prize donation.Their contribution allowed us to raise over $300 on the night.

Many members also took the opportunity to purchase Club Merchandise including caps, Shirts and club jackets.

We had a guest speaker, Mr. David Snape from the NRMA Vintage & Veteran car Insurance. David spoke briefly about his product, generating much discussion. David also shared his experience of 30+ years working for the well known insurance company. David was particularly impressed with the number of "ladies" that were part of our club."Truly refreshing to see so many members with their partners" David, later commented on this again and also exclaimed at the "structure and professionalism" of our club. A big thank you to you all for your contribution Ladies & Gentlemen.

With formalities completed, we each received a complimentary plate of Pasta - Penne Boscaiola & Tortellini Napoletana. Discussions and laughter continued throughout the night, while images and video of 2009/2010 events were on display on the big screen.

At midnight it was time to "wrap it up" some members continued to enjoy the wonderful facilities at Club Marconi.

Many thanks for the significant attendance and involvement, we look forward to maintaining the momentum and fulfilling the expectations of each member in the coming year!

Hunter Valley Tour

Members and friends were up bright and early meeting at McDonalds, Thornleigh. All in anticipation to get on the road and make our way toward the Hunter valley wine region. The morning started with a big breakfast and a large cappuccino. The drive to the Hunter valley was a dream as the new and classics powered up the F3 highway and into wine growing country.

The usual waves of appreciation were received from passing motorists along the way. We arrived at our hotel the Comfort Inn where we met up with other members of car clubs in the Hunter region; we unloaded our vehicles and made ready to commence our tour. Our first stop was Tyrells winery where we were given a tour of their wine making facility and then onto a private wine tasting.

We had a picnic lunch on the grounds at Tyrells where everyone contributed to the table and what a feed followed! Lunch took a little longer than anticipated, just highlighting not complaining. We next moved onto the Hunter valley gardens, the chocolate and lolly shop proved to be very popular!

Onto McGuigans for more wine tasting according to some members by this time it all tasted the same, the Semillon botrytis was a huge hit with many.

Onto our next stop “HOPE”, upstairs and through the Great Cask hall and into a specially prepared private area where a very well presented and professional wine tasting experience followed. Smelly cheese anyone?

At this stage it was time to return to our rooms to freshen up and make ready for dinner. The scotch fillet was exceptional and cooked to perfection the chefs at Pedens. Dinner was followed by coffee and desert. At dinner we were joined by very good friends of IMSMC Warren and Laurel Buckingham from CIAO (Classic Italian Automobile Organization) we are sure to share in events with this enthusiastic club!

Sunday morning started with a home-style country cooked breakfast and then members made their way onto the Chocolate factory. Upon arrival and entering the factory we could feel the kilos piling on just by breathing. Onto First Creek our first winery for the day, here we enjoyed some good local wines even a desert wine made from raspberries. You have to watch these vignerons they will start making wine from rapene seeds…

Many after First creek decided it was time to depart and return to Sydney, while others decided to visit The Blue Tongue brewery where we had lunch washed down with a handcrafted refreshing ale.

What a great weekend!

Marulan Fund Raiser

Sunday the 4th of July, saw seven members of IMSMC make the trip to the Marulan Driver Training Centre and participate in a fund raiser to support the childrens ward of Goulburn hospital.

We once again gathered at the Mobil Truckstop at Pheasants Nest and departed at 8:00am and made our way south. On a cool winters morning, the cars purrred. Our convoy keeping the surrounding traffic alert...amazing how many people point and smile as we over take!.

A very special mention to Charlie Losinno and Giuseppe Lecce. Both Charlie & Giuseppe drove their 500's ALL the way and drove home. They averaged 90 to 100km/h the whole way. We take our hats off to you both and congratulate you on your adventure! A great contribution toward the celebration of the birthday of the Fiat 500, which is celebrated on July 4th. Charlie & Giuseppe's adventure certainly dispells any doubt regarding the reliability of a Fiat 500 on long trips! Rumor has it that they both leave for Darwin tomorrow!

IMSMC donated $100 to the Hospital and our members raised close to another $100 on the day. A lady came over to our club display and thanked us immensly. She greatly appreciated our efforts and truly highlighted the significance of our contribution to the success of the day. Whilst speaking to us, she then "let slip" that she was infact the Mayor of Marulan! Well at that the IMSMC Boys "went to work" - hats came off, bowing , hand shakes and a number of "eeh, oowee, ehhie yeah" could be heard, one of our members genuflected expecting to be knighted!

A very satisfying day - the drive to and from was most memorable - and we feel like we did a good thing for the wider community.

Bowral Run

Sunday the 27th of June, on what was the coldest winter morning so far this year, saw 15 IMSMC vehicles, along with 30+ of our members & Family for our day trip to Bowral.

Our first stop was to re-group at Pheasant’s nest and after a hot cappuccino by 9:00am we were south bound on the Hume Hwy, cruising toward Bowral and onto Centennial Winery, where we met our invited guests from the Fiat Club of ACT.

Our wine tasting session was most enjoyable and informative, picking up some interesting Aboriginal vocabulary and it’s meaning! Our very gracious "somiliere", Jenny, running us through a variety of wines both red, white and rose’.

Soon enough, a request for "desert wines" saw Jenny bring out the Autumn late harvest Chardonnay, which was a major hit amongst the "tasters" and highly recommended!

A couple of "big fellas" were seen soon after leaving the cellar door after purchasing a case each!

At 12:30am we made our way to Glebe Park for a picnic lunch - sandwiches, olives, chilli, cakes, sausages (in no particular order) were plentiful around the tables of members and their families, ensuring that no one went hungry! The afternoon progressed with a great deal of discussion & laughter - the compulsory game of "picnic soccer" and an espresso coffee!

Festa Della Republica 2010

Sunday the 30^th of May 2010, saw 21 cars and members participate in the Festivities at Club Marconi, Horsley Park.

Initially the day looked foreboding, the inclement weather f the morning soon broke out into sunshine and not a drop of rain was seen all day!

One member noted that it must have been the “nonni” dancing the tarantella that appeared to keep the rain at bay, besides the rain would not dare fall on any of our well polished cars!

IMSMC created a spectacular display, our twenty one cars assembled toward the back of the soccer stadium, proved once again, to be a major drawcard as people mingled and chatted around our classics.

The music was great and varied the food plentiful and tasty, the Italian wines, beer and assorted drinks were exceptional, all in all great ingredients for exceptional entertainment.

Many stalls displayed a wide variety of Italian wares, food and drink. Included were also soccer accessories promoting the Italian effort into the next FIFA world cup, watch out “Azzurri” the “Socceroos” are on their way...

The IMSMC stall did particularly well, with people around it all day our club merchandise was well represented and admired by many. The stall was adorned with club merchandise, classic car and motorbike models and a multitude of Italian cakes and biscuits.

A very big thankyou to the ladies of IMSMC who worked laboriously in both making and selling a multitude of authentic homemade cakes and biscuits, your efforts are truly appreciated.

The day concluded as always with the signature fireworks display, with young and old admiring the sights and sounds of the impressive display.

What a glorious morning Friday the 21^st May was! The cars were a sight to be seen! A beautiful combination of Fiats,Alfa Romeos,Ferraris, Maseratis and everything inbetween! In total 25 cars. All lined up and ready to take off!

Members arrived at 7:15am with not many cars on display yet, The coordinator began to line the cars up as they drove into the piazza of the Italian Forum. Particiapants were all given a breakfast pass for a free breakfast of bacon eggs and sausage on a roll, as well as a nice hot coffee. Delicious!

The cars that were to participate in the drive from Norton st to Lygon St were first scruntinzed and then given the go ahead with an official sticker,In total about 10 cars were participating in the charity rally this year.

I had a discussion with Robert Dunn, the organiser of the event, and he congratulated us, The Italian Made Social Motoring Club, for supporting this event, expressing his wishes that hopefully members would join the convoy to Melbourne next year.

Marrickville Italian Festa

On Sunday the 23rd of May, our club was represented at the Marrickville Festa Italiana by Joe lecce & Joe Di Marti with their 2 Fiat 500's.

The weather looked threatening, but rain, hail or shine - the Festa went on! Complete with complimentary "fine Home made Italian Food", gelato and coffee for the entire day.

The morning passed along with fine Italian coffee and home made biscuits. Lunch was provided with antipasto, pasta, Italian sausage, salad, fresh bread, a good glass of wine and of course, another fine coffee!

A live floor show and a variety of "musica Italiana" could be heard all day creating a real Italian Atmosphere. Our cars created a great deal of interest, with many club profiles handed out on the day. So much interest in our cars, infact, that Marrickville Council organised a full time security guard to keep an eye on things, just in case someone wanted to put one of the cars in their back pack! A great number of familiar faces also acknowledged the presence of our club at this conmmunity event.

Many thanks to Joe Di Marti, Joe Lecce & very good friend of IMSMC; Frank Crema - for taking the time to represent our Club at the Festa. Marrickville Council has expressed their greatest words of appreciation.

Auto Italia 2010

Sunday 18th April, our club participated in the annual Auto Italia held in the nations Capital.11 of our members cars joined the cavalcade down the Hume Hwy (at different stages) on Saturday morning.

First Stop, "Partridge rest area", then onto the Mobil Petrol station at Pheasants Nest. Greetings were passed onto one another & after an inspection of all vehicles and we were on our way. Our second stop was at the VC Mackay rest area, for a coffee (espresso of-course) a yak and a stretch - then it was off to the Goulburn Bakery, for a meat pie (not quite Italian but very satisfying)!

After lunch, we were onto the Federal Hwy and Canberra Bound! Our contingent arrived at the Forrest Inn; freshened up and moved into the "Italo-Australian Club", next door for a well deserved”refreshment". At 6:30pm we moved into "Lo Sfizio Restaurant".

By this stage the members were all very hungry indeed! 36 members, family & friends enjoyed an abundance of food and then dominated the dance floor for the remainder of the evening. Some of our members visited the Masters Collection exhibition at the National Art Gallery at 10:30pm, making the most of their time in Canberra!

Sunday morning, 14 of our Club cars made their way to the "Patrick White Lawns". The President of the Fiat Club of ACT, Geoff Hall, invited our club to cavalcade through the streets of Canberra and captured this on DVD (film/video). The video willl be professionally edited and will be available on You tube shortly!

Our club was extremely well represented at the display. Members Gerardo Mediati, Maurizio Puglisi & John Di Rocco were voted 1st in the class of Best Fiat Sedan, Best Fiat spider and best Exotic, respectively. Each were presented with a 1st prize trophy and a hand shake from the Consul of Italy!

Member Alessandro Di Rocco was also fortunate, taking home six bottles of Barossa Valley red for having the winning entrance ticket! All in all a spectacular day for the IMSMC!

We hope to do it all again at Auto Italia 2011.

Ettalong Festa

Saturday and Sunday the 10th & 11th of April saw members of the IMSMC attend an Italian Festa at Ettalong Beach tourist resort.

An 8 o’clock departure from the Mcdonalds carpark in Thornleigh, saw 9 Italian Made club cars make our way North towards Ettalong via the F3 motorway in convoy. As we drove we received a great number of salutations from passing motorists. We arrived at Ettalong resort festa, led in by The Fiat Topolino 500C driven by Charlie Losinno, as the local radio station announced our arrival and gave a running commentary on our vehicles. The cars were placed in position and the display took shape and presented well over the two day event.

The day progressed with a fashion parade, singing, accordion playing, wine tasting and eating. I believe one of the rat pack made a guest appeareance I was told his name was Dean.

On Saturday evening 35 members and family gathered for a fine meal at the Fiamma restaurant. Antipasto followed by exceptional wood fired pizzas accompanied with white and/or red wine followed by ricotta cake for desert and coffee with traditional grappa or sambuca. The night was filled with conversation, laughter, music and dancing.

Overall the two days were filled with various types of entertainment for all ages.

Our committee and members and friends namely Maria Losinno, Oriana Deiulio, Caterina Lecce, Nina and Tia Stillone excelled in selling our merchandise and marketing our club. Oriana Deiulio organized pannini and an assorted range of small goods including prosciutto and hot salami for Saturday and Sunday lunch for club members.

The weekend was enjoyed by all, the drive, resort and company all played their role in making the weekend a huge success.

Walnut Run 2010

Our day began with the intention to meet at McGraths Hill McDonalds at 8:00am… members, obviously full from the previous days Easter festivities arrived one by one until at 9:15am, we were on our way!

Eight thoroughbred vehicles with a number of "imports" lined Windsor Road, in cavalcade, into North Richmond and up to Bilpin, via Kurrajong Heights to Mt Wilson where the walnuts were to be had!

No doubt about the "finer air" in the outer altitudes of the greater Sydney metro it seemed the higher we climbed the better the Italian Machinery performed.

We arrived at Arrellana our Italian cars combined with Walnut & Chestnut trees in the background - It truly looked “Tuscan like!". Here, our members picked nuts, filled many buckets (approx 200kg worth) everywhere you looked, you could see people smiling and laughing, a very satisfied IMSMC fraternity.

By 1:00pm we had set up camp at the Cathedral of Ferns picnic ground. Within minutes, the IMSMC restaurant was buoyant - the smell of Barbeque, olive oil, Italian Herbs & spices and the occasional "cling" of a glass or two, could be heard throughout the picnic ground.

After lunch, member Adrian Murer presented the crowd with a shiny set of "bocce balls" - An Italian equivalent of lawn bowls and quite quickly, it was on Boys vs. Girls, young vs. younger - some incredible athleticism and skill shown by all!

Meanwhile, espresso coffee and watermelon was being prepared back at camp. Members regrouped for a "cuppa & slice"...a conclusive chat and then it was homeward bound!

A wonderful day had by all. It is worth noting that we welcome the "participation" of more and more family members of our members at such events. Nice to meet you, ladies & gentlemen! We sincerely hope you will join us at future events!

Voglia Di Pane

Sunday the 21st of March saw 24 of our members attend "Voglia Di Pane" at Woodpark. Members with varying commitments presented themselves, some leaving early and some arriving later in the day.

A day to remember for many reasons! It was very, very warm...the entertainment was most fulfilling...our cars looked great...the food was abundant! Of course, we were honoured by the presence of Alessandro & Wilmy Scarpa, who visited from Italy. They were so impressed with our club! They commented on how much we all show friendship toward eachother and were noticeably impressed with the quality of our restored and maintained vehicles.

Our Club secretary Lino De Iulio went into "top gear" and arranged for members to receive a "refreshment" - Thanks Lino, great idea! It really hit the spot on such a hot day and fitted the "cheer" for our visitors!

A special thankyou to Stephanie Weston (33.3333% of Prodata) for traveling from Penrith to Richmond and then over to Woodpark, picking up and bringing the Scarpa's to the IMSMC. Thanks Steph!! Stephanie also passed the comment that our line up looked like a big gelato shop with all the varied colours of our cars!

IMSMC was presented with a "series" of 500clubItalia merchandise including a number of shirts, club stickers, a commemorative plaque and pennant. Each member that attended the day also received a 500ClubItalia keyring, treasured by those that received it.

Later that night, our committee entertained our visitors with a wonderfully catered meal at Leo & Ellen Di Rocco's home. We presented Alessandro & Wilmy with an IMSMC pack, containing shirts & caps. They immediately put on the shirts and showed their gratitude, again emphasising how they support our objective of keeping our cars in the public eye.

We genuinely feel that we have developed a close association with 500Club Italia. We will certainly be keeping in touch - expect to receive emails with a link to their web site with exciting announcements.

Alessandro has insisted that if any of our members travel to Italy, he expects them to "look him up" and visit Garlenda, for a personal tour of the 500ClubItalia Museum situated on the Italian Riviera...sounds very tempting!

Congratulations and many thanks to you all for your level of participation and the manner in which you present, and continue to present your vehicles at our events. The committee is most grateful for your attendance...this is the greatest reward we could ask for.

The Waterfront

Sunday the 14th of March saw 25 members and their cars, with double the amount of friends and family, visiting The Waterfront at Homebush, for the annual "Festa Italiana".

Thankfully the weather man got it wrong again, as the splendor of Sydney Autumn, made itself felt. The Motori Italiani, love the weather this time of year - and the drivers of Classic spiders use that lttle bit extra bryl cream too!

The day was filled with all things Italiano, including live singing, pizza making , fresh cannoli, gelato and the scent of coffee throughout the piazza.

A great deal of interest was generated by our cars, with members having a chat and receiving compliments from passers by. The complimentary sausage sandwhich (Italian Sausage of course) hit the spot! Many making the most of the wine tasting that was happenning at the IMSMC tabel, to assist digestion, of course!

A huge thankyou to all the members that presented their cars. Our committee was hard at work selling club merchandise all day - we'll need to do a stock take, as especially Maria Losinno, Oriana & Lino De Iulio put their entrepreneaurial skills to work all day!

IMSMC Ball 2010

Saturday the 27th of February, saw 210 members, family and friends gather at the Castel D'Oro in Five Dock to enjoy a formal evening of excellent food, wine and song.
The evening commenced with John Di Rocco, our president, opening with a brief welcome, highlighting the significance of such a wonderful group of people, and praised the great number of younger IMSMC members attending our events and who were present at the ball.

The president also lauded the efforts of the IMSMC committee who have worked, and continue to work enthusiastically and tirelessly throughout the year, for the benefit of the club and its members.

Drinks were plentiful throughout the evening, and whenever you glass was empty the staff at Castel D’Oro made sure it was quickly filled! The antipasto and main meals were superb, and no one went home hungry!

The evening was a huge success. The raffle was spectacular, with prizes of all sorts, shapes and sizes. The Italian Made Social Motoring Club would like to thank all our sponsors; Individuals & businesses that contributed to our monster raffle.

At the conclusion of formalities and dinner the dance floor came to life, with resident DJ played hits from the 50's right through to present day hits. Members and guests danced for hours, and didn’t want to go home! Our evening was concluded on the dance floor with the traditional "Tarantella" that everyone got into!

A huge THANK YOU to all who attended and contributed to a most memorable evening, we look forward to sharing many more terrific occasions together in good company.

Motorfest 2010

On the 26th of January 2010,Australia Day, The Italian Made Social Motoring Club participated in the annual NRMA Motorfest in Sydney.

Our Club Cars created a splendid display, representing the contribution of Italian Motor vehicles to the Australian motoring Heritage.

On a hot Sydney summers day, our classic Italian made vehicles came from North, South, East & West. There were a few morning casualties, but the coolness of the sea breeze and the shade offerred by Moreton Bay Figs, ensured that the bulk of the day was cool & enjoyable.

Macquarie & College streets were lined with Classic cars of all types. Hyde park was abuzz with international food and entertainment. It was great to see many of our members , that weren't able to attend with their cars, turn up on the day to enjoy the festivities and spend time at our club display.

During the day, The IMSMC display was visited by two

gentlemen from Australian Military Vehicle Collectors Society (AMVCS).

They explained that in 2007, they took (drove part of the way) their 1940 Willys Jeep to Turkey. From Turkey, the gentlemen continued to Northern Italy and visited Garlenda which co-incided with the Celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the Fiat 500. They were presented with a "Fiat 500 Club Italia" merchandise pack. These two gentlemen have decided to donate this pack to the IMSMC. We will offer this as a prize at next month’s annual ball. A real collector’s item!

Our members "Squadra Italiana" were interviewed by an NRMA camera crew; allowing us to deliver our club objectives and "tell a story" about our classics! This should be available online (with many thanks to the NRMA), shortly.

Our thanks to the NRMA for inviting our club to Motorfest. I believe that by March edition of Australian Classic Car Magazine, a comprehensive write up, should be available. We look forward to reciprocal and continued support.

IMSMC Christmas Party @ La Vigna

Sunday the 6th of December, 120 members, family & friends attended the annual IMSMC Christmas lunch at La Trattoria, La Vigna. La Vigna is a new restaurant in Camden, specialising in Italian Cuisine.

The IMSMC crew created a profound "Atmosphera Italiana". Our cars were parked in front of a perfect backdrop, 5 acres grapevines sprawling behind them. It looked like a postcard from Monte Pulciano D'Abbruzzo!!

A wonderful service provided by Restaurateur Gianni Roccisano - Pizza with dips, Seafood platter, Penne Napoletane, Spaghetti Marinara, 300gms Scotch fillet - and abundance of Salad and bread, Ice cream and coffee!

We were privileged by a SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE by SANTA CLAUSE! Every one received a Mini Pandoro and each of the children received a Christmas stocking from Santa.

Merry Christmas Ladies & Gentlemen. 2009 has been a very fast year, complete with your enthusiasm, passion and participation. Many thanks for all the VERY hard work by our committee.

Picnic at Bobbin head

Sunday the 11^th of October, saw over 90 members and family of IMSMC come together for a big Italian Picnic! What a day! The weather couldn’t make up its mind, with sun and rain on and off all day, but under the cover of “The Station” all was good. Good and bad, the weather would not stand in the way of making the event a huge success.

Wine, Food and more glorious food!

The day started wonderfully for the Di Rocco contingent. We were powering down the M4 when the Fiat 850 Spyder decided to stop running. After the usual checks we discovered the petrol “la Benzina” was not going into the carburettor!! Why is it so? The needle seat had come loose (probably vibrations) and the float had jammed shut, hence no flow. Success! Onwards and upwards, and on our way…Unfortunately this made us a little late.

The cars performed well along the M4, M7 and then Pennant Hills Road. Down the escarpment, the mighty machines negotiated the sharp bends like true thoroughbreds.

When we arrived all were busy setting up the picnic area. The area resembled a scene from star wars; everyone was busy and waiting for the imminent attack!

Gas barbeques in the undercover area were on; charcoal and wood burning barbeques just outside The Station perimeter were on and ready to go!

A special Thankyou must be made for the ladies and members who presented an array of homemade cakes including carrot cake, tiramisu, almond biscuits and crostoli.
Most of us were full before we started the barbeque lunch, nibbling on all the foods that were on offer, no one went hungry!

The coffee was espresso and plentiful! By now, all barbeques were fired up and ready to go, and out came the culinary delights. Homemade (spectacular) pork sausages, steaks of every shape, size and cut, salads of every description, home made chilli sauces and afterwards coffee yet again, this time with grappa!

Kathleen Toovey and husband Trevor accepted our invitation and participated in our picnic. Nice to see them both -They certainly enjoyed our Pannini and a glass of our "signature" shed red!

After lunch, everyone became involved in a game of Soccer! Some played, most watched, while others adjudicated. Discussion, laughter and indigestion were the only sounds that could be heard coming from “The Station”.

A group of our members lost themselves on the wireless laptop trying to decide on a FIAT colour for Joe Lecce’s 1100 project. ”I reckon original colour!!... No, No!!.. It has to be red!! White would be nice…” head spins! Anyhow Joe knows the colour his wife wants…

Charlie Losinno lost the shirt of his back but only to let another member try it on.

Well the day had gotten away from us by now and it was time to pack up. All stowed, one last coffee and we were all homeward bound.
Our events are being attended by greater numbers of family and fiends. This is great to see. A great bunch of enthusiasts. We hope to see you all at the next event. Thankyou everyone!

Burwood Festival: Classic Car Show & Shine '09.

Sunday the 19^th of September was a spectacular day. The weather was fine and conducive to IMSMC participating in another grand event, The Burwood Festival's Classic Show & Shine in support of the Burwood state emergency services.

19 IMSMC vehicles, together with their owners, families and friends enjoyed an atmosphere filled with cars, food and entertainment.
200 cars of all shapes and sizes were displayed in the centre of Burwood along Burwood road.
As we approached our display areas, we were directed by members of the SES into our positions. The cars lined up looked very smart and were well presented.

Our display certainly attracted the greatest number of visitors with the Papparazzi shuffling for pole position. Everyone wanted a photo in a 500!

Compliments to Rando and Anna Finochiaro on their well presented ice cream truck, we hope to see them at every big event in Sydney.

The ice cream was a huge success with the crowd.
There were several stalls representing many foods from a wide spectrum of cultures.

The Budhists were represented and they told me to tell you all "to be good to each other".

Some members mingled with the crowd and other car owners, others went shopping in Westfield and surrounding shops, other members were seen enjoying a refreshing ale and some members had a bet on the horse in the TAB.

There were many activities to keep people occupied throughout the day, a band called "The Beatels" all the songs were famous Beatles classics! They were Fantastic! The band dressed in the classic Beatles style suits and pointed shoes and later changed into Sergeant Pepper outfits.

At the conclusion of the day Lloyd Jamieson made us proud as his car, the red PUP-500, was judged best 1960's car at the show, well done and congratulations Lloyd!

The mayor of Burwood joined for a photo opportunity with some of our members in front of our display.. Even the Police on duty were not safe as Fillippo Foti brought them into our fold to participate in our display.

Once again a very successful event, we look forward to seeing you at the next one!
